Joins Medical
School Faculty
Dr. Arthur Tomlinson Fort
former assistant professor of
obstetrics and Gynecology at
the University of Tennessee
Medical School, M e m p h i s ,
Tenn., and vice president of
the school's faculty, has been
named head of hte Depart-ment
of Obstetrics and Gyne-cology
at Louisiana State Uni-versity
Medical School here.
While at the University of
Tennessee, he directed a
program of research, diagno-sis
and treatment of the
unborn child and has publ-ished
a number of papers on
the subject. He served on the
board of directors of Planned
Parenthood of Memphis and
as consultant to the Juvenile
Court Authority. He is a
member of the board of
directors of the Memphis
Institute of Medicine and
Religion.
Dr. Fort is a diplomat of
the American Board of Obste-trics
and Gynecology and a
fellow of the American Col-lege
of Obstetrics and a reci-pient
of the Student American
Medical Association's' award
for outstanding clinical teach-ing.
A native of Lumpkin, Ga.,
he was educated at the
University of Georgia and the
University of Tennessee Medi-cal
School, where he interned
and did his residency in
I obsteterics and gynecology. He
is married to the former Jane
McClelland of St. Petersburg,
Fla., and they have four
children.
