Pfizer Lecture
Dr. Charles E. Becker, San Francisco tox-icologist
and pharmacologist,
will present the annual Pfizer
L e c t u r e in c l i n i c a l
pharmacology at 1 p.m. Dec.
15 at LSU Medical Center
School of Medicine in
Shreveport.
Becker will be the guest of
the Section on Clinical
Pharmacology, Department
of Pharmacology and
Therapeutics, during a two-day
visit to LSUMC. He is
associate professor of medicine and head of the
Division of Clinical Pharmacology at San Fran-cisco
General Medical Center, University of
California.
"Lead Poisoning: An Occupational Disease and
Its Effect on Drug Disposition" will be the topic of
his lecture, which is scheduled for the clinical
toxicology course in the pharmacology and
therapeutics department.
He will participate in a Department of
Psychiatry seminar on the alcoholic patient as a
toxic and pharmacologic emergency on Dec. 15. On
Dec. 16, he will present a clinical toxicology course
lecture, "Acute and Chronic Organophosphate
Poisoning," and a pharmacology lecture, "Fire
Toxicology."
Becker is chief of the clinical pharmacology and
toxicology unit at San Francisco General and
medical director of the San Francisco Bay Area
Poison Center. He is associate director of the
Northern California Occupational Health Center,
medical consultant to the Department of Defense
alcoholism program, and clinical consultant in
toxicology to the California Department of Public
Health.
He is editor of the Journal of Occupational
Medicine and the Journal of Clinical Toxicology.
