Dr. Hull to Speak
Physician's,
Minister's
Day Planned
Dr. Edgar Hull will discuss "Religion
in the Post-Modern World" at the sixth
annual Physician's and Minister's Day at
8 p.m. Tuesday at Convention Hall.
The Rev. George Hutchins, president of
the Shreveport-Bossier Ministerial Asso-ciation,
is program chairman. Other
speakers will include the Rev. Dan
Goodwin, "Clinical Pastoral Training
Program" and Dr. Emil Kotcher, "Coun-cil
on Religion and Medicine."
Dr. John Hendrick, president of the
Shreveport Medical Society will introduce
the speaker and reactors will be the Rev.
Joe Browning, Rabbi Leo Brener and the
Rev. W. M. McCutcheon.
The sixth annual meet is jointly
sponsored by the Shreveport Medical
Society's medicine and religion committee
of which Dr. Joe E. Holoubek and Dr.
Charles L. Black are co-chairmen; and
the Shreveport-Bossier Ministerial Asso-ciation's
hospital workshop committee of
which the Rev. Kenneth E. Gibson is
chairman.
Dr. Hull is dean of the Louisiana State
University-Shreveport School of Medicine
and has just returned from Spain, where
he completed a two-month course on
"Christianity in the Post-Modern World"
at the Christian Commonwealth Institute
at San Lorenzo.
He received his medical training at
Tulane University and interned at High-land
Clinic. He practiced at Pleasant Hill
from 1929 to 1930, when he joined the
faculty of LSU in New Orleans. He has
been professor of medicine since 1939 and
dean of LSU-Shreveport School of Medi-cine
since 1967.
Visiting professor of medicine at the
University of Bologna, Italy, in 1950, Dr.
Hull was consultant in medicine at Taipei,
Formosa, for five months in 1958. He also
was visiting professor of medicine at the
University of Costa Rica medical school in
1963 and 1964.
Outstanding honors in the state,
national and international medical socie-ties
have been awarded Dr. Hull. He has
been said to be the "doctor's doctor" in
the South and the "medical teacher's
teacher."
