EPORT-BOSSIER CITY, LA., SATURDAY, SEPT. 9, 1972 Awards Convocation— Medical School Here Honors 17 Students The Awards Convocation of Louisiana State University's Medical School here has con-ferred honors on 17 students during ceremonies at Veter-ans Administration Hospital. The initial occasion when there have been freshman, sophomore, junior and senior medical students present, Dr. Edgar Hull, dean of LSU Medical School-Shreveport ad-dressed the prospective physi-cians and awards were made to: Dennis Dale V e n a b 1 e of Monroe — The George David Excellence in the study of Stewart Memorial Award for Human Anatomy, the award year, in the opinion of the Department of Anatomy, has shown the greatest proficiency in that subject. David Marshall Walsworth — of West Monroe — South Medical Association Student Scholarship, cash award made to a student by the SMA on recommendation of the dean. A c a d e m i c excellence is a major factor in consideration for the award. Kenneth Eugene Harper of Baton Rouge — Alumni Fed-eration Top 100 S c h o l a r s Award. Glen Rodney S a u c i e-r of Alexandria; John M. Carring-ton of Shreveport, and Wil-liam E. Haley of French Settlement — LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport Honor Award given to students nomi-nated by the dean of the School of Medicine. Nominees are selected on the basis of general merit, but must have established a scholastic stand-ing in the upper one-fourth of the c l a s s . The award is renewable for three years. Carl J. B r a b h a m Jr. of Buckalew III of Pineville, and Shreveport — The Moseby Book Awards, given each year to five students selected by the Committee on Student Affairs. Carl E. McLemore Jr. of Morganza; Mark W. Callaway of Shreveport; Daniel J. Moll-er Jr. of B a t o n Rouge; William E. Haley of French Settlement; Kenneth P. Mau-terer Jr. of Olla, and David G. Gaar of B a t o n Rouge — L a n g e Publications Book award, given to two outstand-ing students from each class. All a l r e a d y have Ph.D. degrees. Dr. Hull is slated to retire as dean of the LSU medical facility effective in J u l y of next, year.
