Wilson, Boykin Get Top Hospital Posts

Dr. J. Woodfin Wilson Jr.
and Dr. F. C. Boykin last
night were named to the top
posts on the Schumpert
Memorial Hospital medical
staff.
Wilson was named
president and Boykin
president - elect of the staff at
the annual meeting last night
in the Fountainbleu Room at
the hospital.
Other officers are Dr. H. W.
Boggs Jr., vice president, and
Dr. Fred Price, secretary.
Serving on the executive
committee will be Dr. Jack
Pou, past president, and the
chiefs of the various
departments who are Drs.
Dan E. Russell, medicine; H.
Whitney Boggs, surgery;
William C. Kalmbach Jr.,
obstetrics - gynecology;
James W. Cotter, pediatrics;
Edith Rigsby, psychiatry;
Max Thornton Jr., oral
surgery and dentistry; Jack
Carlisle, radiology; U. H.
Stoer, pathology, and J. T.
McCanless, anesthesiology.
Yearend reports were given
by various committees.
Sister Mary Henrietta,
administrator, told the staff
that over $2^0,000 was spent
during 1.&7 3 Tor new
equipment, and $2.3 million
spent on the new construction
project.
Reporting on the progress of
the hospital's construction
p r o g r am was Robert
DeBacker, associate
administrator. He said that
the Diagnostic and Treatment
Building, which includes the
Cancer Treatment Center,
Heart Center and Trauma
Center, new operating rooms
and special diagnostic
laboratories will be ready for
occupancy by Nov. 1,1974.
The new nursing tower,
which will have 192 private
rooms, will be completed on
what he termed "a piecemeal
basis" during the following
months.
Wilson, an internist, has
served as president of the
Louisiana Heart Association,
and as first vice president of
the Louisiana Medical
Society.
He has served as president
of the Confederate Memorial
Medical Center visiting staff.
He is a graduate of
Louisiana State University
Medical School at New
Orleans.
He is a Fellow of the
American College of Chest
Physicians and the American
College of Physicians. He is a
certified Board Member of the
Internal Medicine.
A neurosurgeon, Boykin
was educated at the Emory
University School of
Medicine.
He is certified by the
A m e r i c a n Board of
Neurological Surgery, and a
member of the American
Board of Neurological
Surgeons.
