Physical therapists gathering Physical therapists gathering in con-ference here this weekend expect to hear plans for a school of physical therapy in the LSU School of M e d i c i n e in Shreveport. Dr. Stanley H. Abadie, dean of the School of Al-lied Health Pro-fessions in the Sanders LSU medical system, is expected to confirm these plans Saturday when he addresses the Louisiana Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Associa-tion. The PTs will meet today, Saturday and Sunday at Sheraton Inn in Bossier. They will hear H. Duane Saunders, chief of rehabilitaion services at Cen-tral Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend, and Dr. Ray M. Patterson, who is well-known in the physical therapy academic community. Saunders will present an overview of current concepts of low back pathology, his emphasis on discogenic pain and herniated disc syndrome. He will speak at 1:30 p.m. today and at 8 a.m. Satur-day. Saunders, experienced clinical PT who teaches musculo-skeletal evalua-tion and treatment at Wichita State University, frequently addresses the subject at PT meetings throughout the country. He is vice chairman of the orthopedic section, APTA, and chief delegate and past president of the Kansas chapter. Patterson, now completing a post-doctoral administrative internship; will analyze role conflicts which are blamed for the turnover in the allied health profession. He will deal with the conflict of the "bureaucratic" role that health care people assume with the "professional" role they were taught in school. He will show how those with bureaucratic orientation differ from those with pro-fessional orientation. Patterson will speak at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.. The chapter will elect new officers Saturday morning.
