Dr. Faludi Heads
Medical Branch
For United Way
Dr. Heinz K. Faludi, prominent area
neurosurgeon, has accepted the post of
chairman of the
medical division in
this year's United
Way campaign, For-rest
Dunn, chairman
of the fall drive, an-nounced.
Dr. Faludi, who
serves as section
chief in neuro-surgery
at Con-federate
Memorial
Medical Center and
also senior con-sultant
in neuro-surgery
at the
local Veterans Administration Hospital,
will coordinate physicians and the
Louisiana State University Medical School
in Shreveport in this year's campaign. The
division will help raise the planned goal of
$1,300,000 for the health, welfare and
character building agencies of the United
Way.
Currently serving as medical advisor
for the Department of Health, Education
and Welfare in neurosurgical matters, Dr.
Faludi is also on the neurosurgical con-sultant
staff to all local private hospitals.
Dr. Faludi completed premedical cour-ses
in his native Austria. He graduated
from medical school at Temple University
in Philadelphia.
Postgraduate training in neurology and
neurological surgery was accomplished at
the Neurological Institute of New York, at
Columbia University Presbyterian
Medical Center and at the V.A. Hospital at
Kingsbridge Road, New York, N.Y. He
served in the U.S. Army during World War
II as a military neuropsychiatrist.
Having been in private practice in
Shreveport since 1952, Dr. Faludi has
helped in the organization of the medical
school in Shreveport and has served on
numerous committees.
He is clinical associate professor of
neurosurgery at the LSU Medical School
here and is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Neurological Surgery. He
previously served as chief of the Depart-ment
of Neurology and Neurosurgery at
Confederate Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Faludi is a member of the First
Lutheran Church. He has been a member
of the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce
and has served on the Board of Directors
of the Shreveport Symphony, the Com-munity
Concert Association and various
theatreical groups.
He and his wife, Shirley, have two
children. They are a son, Dr. Jeffrey Eric
Faludi, who is specializing in op-thalmology,
and a daughter, Susan Lynn,
a graduate of Arizona State University.
