Course Plans
Ronald B. George, M.D., of
the LSU-S Medical School in
Shreveport and course chair-man
for the 11th Annual
Pulmonary Function in
Health and Disease Course, is
coordinating plans for the
December 9-12 meeting in the
New Orleans Medical Center
complex.
The course is sponsored
annually by the American
Thoracic Society (ATS) of
Louisiana, the medical section
of the American Lung
Association of Louisiana, Inc.
The American Medical Assn.
has fully accredited the cour-se
as a continuing education
curriculum.
THE FOUR-DAY course
attracts over 250 lung
specialists from more than 30
states and has in attendance
allied health professionals
who specialize in respiratory
care.
Dr. George emphasized that
the selection of five guest
faculty members invited to
attend always come from
out-of-state and that the plan-ning
committee makes it a
special point to select noted
physicians whose recent
works and research in lung
medicine are of a national
interest.
The content of the course is
devoted to pulmonary
physiology and includes lec-tures,
demonstrations and
roundtable discussions on
specific topics of interest. The
full course program will be
completed this summer and
be available through the ATS
of the Louisiana office.
Co-sponsors of the course
include LSU Medical Center,
School of Medicine in New
Orleans and Shreveport. Area
member of the planning com-mittee
other than Dr. George
is Walter T. Snow, M.D., of
Willis-Knighton Memorial
Hospital.
