Orthopedic Workshop Scheduled
"The Adult Ort.hopedic
Patient" will be th'e topic of a
workshop Tuesday at the
Ramada Inn.
The meeting is being
sponsored by the Shreveport
Chapter of the Orthopedic
Nurses Association. .
The meeting will start at
8:15 a.m. and will adjourn at 5
p.m.
Chairman is Cozette
Duncan, head nurse for the
Orthopedic Service at Doctors
Hospital.
Moderator will be Dr.
William S. Bundrick, clinical
assistant professor of
orthopedic surgery at the LSU
Medical School at Shreveport
and orthopedic consultant for
the Louisiana Tech Athletic
Department.
Topics and speakers will be
"Tractions and Casts — Types
and Indications", Dr. Harold
R. Bicknell, assistant
professor of orthopedic
surgery at LSU Medical
School, and Mary Jacobs,
member of the nursing staff of
D o c t o r s H o s p i t a l ;
"Management of the Severely
Injured Patient", Dr. Don H.
Burt, clinical assistant
professor of orthopedic
surgery at LSU Medical
School; "Back Surgery", Dr.
Carl G. Goodman, acting head
of the Department of
Orthopedic Surgery at LSU
Medical School and
Confederate Memorial
Medical Center, and Kathryn
Josephson, member of the
nursing staff of Doctors
Hospital; and "Fractures —
Types and Principals of
Treatment", Dr. M. B. Bailey
Jr. of Monroe, orthopedic
consultant for the Northeast
U n i v e r s i t y Athletic
Department.
At the afternoon session will
be an address on "Hip
Fracture Surgery" by Dr.
Clinton G. McAlister,
assistant surgeon at Shriners
Hospital for Crippled
Children, and clinical
instructor of orthopedic
surgery at LSU Medical
School; "Orthopedic Nurse in
Surgery",, by Rick Chappel,
orthopedic nurse specialist
with a group of private
physicians, and "Total Hip
Arthroplasty" by Dr. William
Bundrick and Cozette Duncan.
