Elderly Health
Care Workers'
Course Planned
A continuing education program, the
first of a four-phase program on long-term
elderly health care, will be held
Friday and Saturday for master degree-level
social workers at the Holiday Inn,
Bossier City
The immediate goal of the program is
to develop leadership personnel that will
enable master-degree level social
workers to become consultants in long-term
care and to function in liason
capacity in their communities.
Training will be aimed at enhancing
the ability of social workers to provide
guidance and direction to nursing home
social service personnel.
Needs of the aging and chronically ill
and ways to meet such needs will be dis-cussed.
Guest speaker will be Dr Herbert H.
Shore, executive vice president, Dallas
Home for Jewish Aged.
A fellow of the Gerontological Society,
he is chairman-elect of the social re-search,
planning and practice section
and he is also a member of the National
Council on Aging.
The continuing education program for
1975 is being supported by a grant from
the division of Long Term Care, Division
VI, U.S. Department of Health, Educa-tion
and Welfare.
Phase I is being conducted under the
direction of the North Louisiana Chapter
of the National Association of Social
Workers Cosponsors are the department
of continuing education, LSU Medical
School in Shreveport, Confederate
Memorial Medical Center and the
Veterans Administration Hospital in
Shreveport
