ARCHIE McGEE JR. BRAD GARBER
2 Win Med School Grants
Two students at Louisiana
State University Medical School
in Shreveport have received
Louisiana Heart Association
grants for the summer, accord-ing
to Dr. William T. McElroy,
assistant dean in charge of
student affairs.
The stipends will pay each
student $300 a month.
Recipients are Archie McGee
Jr. of Hammond a junior and
Brad Garber of Morgan City, a
sophomore.
McGee did his undergraduate
work at Southeastern State
University in zoology.
He will be studying the effects
of variable oxygen concentra-tion
on the lungs under the
direction of Dr. Rod M. Yeager,
assistant professor of surgery at
the medical school.
Garber received his under-graduate
degree from the Uni-versity
of Colorado in biology
and chemistry.
Garber's research will deal
with e f f e c t s of Vitamin K
deficiency on blood proteins in
rats. He is working under the
direction of Dr. Robert Smith,
associate professor of biochem-istry
at the medical school.
