Hospital Gets
New Assistant
Joe L. Germany, 26, a Shreve-port
native reared in New
Iberia, has been named assist-ant
administrator at Confeder-ate
Memorial Medical center,
according to Robert C. Hall
acting director.
His specific duties include
assisting in the preparation of
the budget, carrying out special
projects, such as a review of the
telephone system, and assisting
in other areas such as purchas-ing,
accounting, personnel, laun-dry
and housekeeping depart-ments.
There is a great need to
expand the administrative staff,
Hall said, and contingent upon
approval of the budget commit-tee
and the State Civil Service
Board other personnel will be
added in the future.
Hall is a former assistant
administrator who was Hamed
director when Dr. Edgar Gallo-way
retired this fall. He is
among those 16 c a n d i d a t e s
being considered for the top
post at Confederate.
If Hall is not selected direc-tor,
he would again become
assistant adjministrator, giving
the hospital two assistants.
Germany, in an interview in
his office in the administrative
suite, said he had always liked
the state hospital system, "and
I was inclined to go along with a
teaching hospital affiliated with
LSU." (Confederate is the
teaching hospital for LSU Medi-cal
School at Shreveport.)
He holds the bachelor of
science degree in business ad-ministration
from Northwestern
State University, and the mas-ters
of business administration
from Louisiana State University
at Baton Rouge.
He served in the U.S. Army
Fort Hood, Tex., from March
112, 1971 to Oct.l , 1972.
