C of C Officer
Cites City Boom
Broader community support
and enlightened active leadership
is vital if Shreveport is to
continue its current industrial
boom, the executive vice presi-dent
of the Chamber of Com-merce
said yesterday.
C. E. "Slim" Landrum told the
North Shreveport Lions Club that
establishment of vocational-technical
facilities here will prove
to be of tremendous value in at-tracting
potential industry.
"Education is far more impor-tant
in this field," said Landrum.
"than it was just a decade ago."
He urged also that every effort
be exerted to speed up construc-tion
of the LSU Medical School,
that Louisiana give more recog-nition
to the Gulf South Research
Institute and that more cultural
and recreational attractions be
provided.
