Last Friday's Meeting

Whit presided, Misch led the sing-ing,
Bob Scott introduced the visiting
Rotarians and guests. Hugh Watson
introduced new Rotarian, Earl A.
Denney, Jr., and Fred Beseler intro-duced
new Rotarian George E. Crane,
Jr. Mrs. Ray Oden, Jr., presented to
the club information concerning the
Shreve Speech Center for children
with speech defects.
Dr. Herbert Tucker introduced our
speaker, Dr. George E. Meneely, As-sociate
Dean of L.S.U. Medical School.
Dr. Meneely stated that medical
knowledge and literature was expand-ing
at such a rapid rate that one half
of all medical literature had been writ-ten
in the last fifteen years.
Approximately twenty-three million
dollars will be spent for construction
of the new L.S.U. Medical School in
Shreveport. 420,000 square feet of
new facilities will be constructed. It
will be 1979 or 1980 before the first
student will graduate from the school
who began his medical education here.
