CHIEF SURGEON OF SHREVEPORT
UNIT TO HEAD DEPARTMENT AT
LS.U. SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
DR. D. W. McKAY
Dr. Douglas W. McKay has been appointed
professor and head of the Department of Ortho-paedics
at Louisiana State University School of
Medicine in Shreveport, it was announced by Dr.
Edgar Hull, dean of the medical school, and Dr.
Frank Kurzweg, head of the surgery division.
A native of Howland, Maine, Dr. McKay has
practiced medicine in Shreveport since 1967,
serving as chief surgeon at the Shrine Hospital
for Crippled Children and as director of the orth-eopaedic
residency program at Confederate Mem-orial
Medical Center and at the Veterans Ad-ministration
Hospital.
He previously practiced medicine in Covington,
Kentucky, and Truth or Consequences, New Mex.,
and has served on the faculties of the University
of Colorado and the University of New Mexico.
He has been consultant to William Hall USAF
Hospital, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio,
Texas, since 1967.
Dr. McKay, who has presented several papers
on his research projects at various medical and
surgical meetings, is a member of the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Clinical Ortho-paedic
Society, Louisiana Orthopaedic Associa-tion
and a member-at-large on the executive com-mittee.
