Speakers Are Named
For LSU Seminar
Dr. Sheldon B. Korones,
professor of pediatrics at the
University of Tennessee Col-lege
of medicine and director,
Newborn Center, City of Mem-phis
Hospital in Memphis,
Tenn., will be one of several
guest faculty who will partici-pate
in a seminar on care of
the newbon to be held in
Shreveport April 6-April 7.
The seminar, to be held in
the auditorium of the Louisia-na
State Exchibit Museum, is
sponsored by the Department
of Pediatrics of Louisiana
State University Medical Cen-ter,
School of Medicine in
Shreveport, in cooperation
with Louisiana Regional Medi-cal
Program and Northwest
Louisiana Areawide H e a l t h
Planning Council.
DR. KORONES, who will be
featured speaker at the semi-nar
along with Dr. Alfred W.
Brann Jr. and Jean Lancas-ter,
is author o. the book,
"High Risk Newborn Infants:
The Basis for Intensive Nurs-ing
Care," which explains the
peculiarities for tne sick new-born.
Jean Lancaster, R.N., M.N.,
associate professor of Nursing
of Children at the University
of T e n n e s s e e and clinical
Nurse supervisor of the City
of Memphis Hospital Newborn
Center, authored a chapter in
Dr. Korones's book entitled,
"Imzpace of Intensive Care on
the Maternal-Infant Relation-ship."
DR. BRANN is assistant
pro'essor of pediatrics at the
University o f Mississippi,
School of Medicine, and direc-tor
of its newborn center.
The course will emphasize
new c o n c e p t s i n newborn
care. Enrollment is still open
and interested persons may
