At Seminar
The C a r d i o l o g y seminar
which got underway yesterday
at Convention Hall with 300
registered will continue today
with Mrs. Wayne Porter presid-ing.
On the program are Sister
Anna, San Antonio, Tex., who
will speak on "Nursing Care
Planning," and Dr. Robert
Bloodwell, cardiovascular sur-geon.
Dr. Bloodwell, a native of
Baton Rouge, presently is with
the Ochsner Clinic in New
Orleans. He is a graduate of
Louisiana State University and
of Baylor University College of
Medicine in Houston.
While in training he served as
an intern in surgery at Johns
Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore,
Md.; clinical associate in the
surgery clinic of the National
Heart Institute, National Insti-tutes
of Health in Bethesda,
Md., and as assistant resident
and resident surgeon at Johns
Hopkins.
Dr. Bloodwell has held staff
positions and academic appoint-ments
at Baylor, Johns Hop-kins,
Tulane University School
of Medicine and the Ochsner
Clinic. He has held hospital
staff appointments at Ben Taub
General H o s p i t a l , Jefferson
Davis Hospital, St. Luke's Epis-copal
Hospital, Texas Child-ren's
Hospital, Veterans Admin-istration
Hospital and Methodist
Hospital, all in Houston.
In 1968 Dr. Bloodwell was
named Outstanding Young Man
of the Year by the Houston
Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Scheduled for the afternoon
session of the seminar are Dr.
Ralph Baucum, assistant pro-fessor
of p e d i a t r i c s , LSU-Shreveport
School of Medicine;
Dr. J. Stanford Shelby, assist-j
ant professor of surgery, LSU-Shreveport
Medical School, and
Miss Jane Blake, RN and
assistant director of Special
services, Touro Infirmary, New
Orleans.
