Local Doctors On Program For Seminar Two Shreveport physicians, Dr. Andrew J. Mullen and Dr. Karr Shannon Jr., have been invited to participate in the 125th annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Assn. in Dallas Monday through Fri-day. Dr. Mullen will discuss the paper, "Amnesty's I m p a c t Upon Drug Use; a Pre-Post Study," from the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology of Walter Reed General Hospi-tal in Washington, D.C. Dr. Mullen will discuss the paper during the Thursday afternoon section on Law and Psychia-try. DR. SHANNON, ALSO to speak on Thursday, will dis-cuss the paper, "Suicide Idea tion and Alcoholic Intoxica-tion." The paper is authored by Dr. Harvey Resnik and Dr. Dean Schuyler from the Na-tional I n s t i t u t e of Mental Health, Chevy Chase, Md. The paper will be presented in the section on Suicidal Behavior. Dr. Mullen is a Diplomate, American Board of Psychia-try and Neurology, and a Fellow of the American Psy-chiatric Asn. and the South-ern Psychiatric Assn. He is a consultant in psychiatry and neurology to the Air Force at Barksdale Air Force Base and the Veterans Administration. He serves as an assistant examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and is Associate Clinical Professor at LSU School of Medicine. He presently is serving as co-chief, Brentwood Neuro-Psy-chiatric Hospital. DR. SHANNON IS.A Diplo-mate, A m e r i c a n Board of Psychiatry a n d Neurology, and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Assn. and South-ern Psychiatric Assn. He is chief, Department of Psychia-t r y, Confederate Memorial Medical Center, and director of r e s i d e n c y training at OMMC. Dr. Shannon also serves as an Assistant Examiner for the American Board of Psychia-try and Neurology and is a consultant in Psychiatry for the Veterans Administration Hospital and to the Office of the Surgeon General and to the Department of the Army, Washington, D.C. He also is program director of the post-graduate course in psychiatry at Confederate.
