Birth Defects
Center Staff
The second woman to join,
as a full-time member, Dr.
Richard J u b e r g 's staff at
Louisiana S t a t e University
M e d i c a l School in Shreve-port's
Birth Defects Center is
Dr. V i c t o r i a Herzberg, 28
years old and possessor of a
Ph.D. in human genetics.
Dr. Herzberg. whose post-doctoral
work involved two
years of research into the
causes of cystic fibrosis, re-sides
in Shreveport with her
husband, Barksdale Air Force
Base radiologist Dr. Donald
Herzberg and two children,
Jill, 4, and David, 2.
At the Birth Defects Center,
Dr. Herzberg shares teaching
duties with Dr. Juberg, takes
part in counseling services,
works in the center's laborato-ry
and conducts a seminar in
genetics for junior year medi-cal
students.
She holds a B.A. degree in
zoology from the University in
Austin and an M.S. degree in
biology from St. Louis Univer-sity
in Missouri. Her Ph.D.
was earned at the University
of Texas' medical branch in
Galveston. Tex., and her post-doctoral
fellowship was held
in the university's Depart-ment
of Pediatrics in Galves-ton.
Dr. Herzberg has received
awards from the N a t i o n a 1
Science Foundation Summer
Institute for Teachers, City
College, New York City, N.Y.;
the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration Trainee-ship,
St. Louis University, and
the K e m p n e r Postdoctoral
Fellowship, University of Tex-as
Medical School, Galveston.
