BATON ROUGE—Dr. Fred Al-lison
Jr. of Jackson, Miss., has
been named the first Edgar Hull
Alumni Professor of Medicine at
LSU School of Medicine in New
Orleans.
Allison is presently serving as
professor of medicine and associ-ate
professor of microbiology, as
well as director of postgraduate
training in infectious diseases, at
the University of Mississippi
School of Medicine.
The Hull Alumni Professor-ship
was established in 1967 in
honor of Dr. Edgar Hull, dean of
the new LSU School of Medicine
in Shreveport.
Dr. Hull was one of the charter
members of the university medi-cal
faculty, having served since
1931. He has taught every
physician who has earned a
doctor of medicine degree from
LSU.
