Dr. Webb President LSU Medical School Faculty Elects Slate Dr. Clarence H. Webb, Shreve-port pediatrician, has been elect-ed the first president of the faculty at Louisiana State Uni-versity Medical School at Shreve-port. Dr. Webb is clinical professor of pediatrics at the school. Other officers selected by the 187-member staff are Dr. James Hughes, clinical associate profes-sor of medicine, vice president, and Dr. Marion Hargove Jr., assistant dean for clinical sci-ences and assistant professor of medicine, secretary. Heads of the standing commit-tees are Admissions, Dr. William T. McElroy, assistant dean for student affairs and associate professor of physiology; Curricu-lum, Dr. Guilford G. Rudolph, assistant dean for basic sciences and professor and head of the Department of Biochemistry, and Library, Dr. Melvin F. Johnon Jr., clinical assistant professor of medicine. Other members of the commit-tees are Admissions, Dr. Charles D. Wood, secretary, and Drs. Sherman L. Allis, Rozelle Hahn, Adrian F. Reed, Albert M. Hand, Paul Winder, N. J. Bender and Hargrove; C u r r i c u l u m , Dr. George R. Meneely, secretary, and Dr.s Frank T. Kurzweg, Heinz K. Faludi, Emil Kotcher, Bettina C. Hilman, Ike Muslow, Jack Pou and A. J. Mullen, and Library, Mayo Drake, head librarian, secretary, and Drs. Helmut M. Redetzki, Robert C. Clawson, Hughes, James R. Bruner, Robert L. Smith, E. E. Dilworth and William R. Gid-dens.-: Dr. Webb is a native of Shreveport and was educated at Tulan6 University School of Medicine. He interned at Highland Hospi-tal here and too khis residency at University Hospital, Minneap-olis, Minn., and the University of Chicago. He served as chief of service DR. CLARENCE H. WEBB in the Department of Pediatrics at Confederate Memorial Medi-cal Center for 22 years of service to the hospital, before stepping down in 1966. In 1 956he received the first Distinguished Service Award giv-en by the Shreveport Medical Society, and also in that year the American Academy of Pediatrics gave him the Grulee Award, for outstanding service to the acade-my. The award is named for the late Dr. Clifford G. Grulee, first secretary of the academy and one of its founders. He holds memberships in the Shreveport Medical Society and the 4th District Medical Society, Louisiana State Pediatric Socie-ty, Shreveport Rotary Club and Shreveport Chamber of Com-merce. Also, he is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and served as president of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 19626-2.
