Sam Weiner, architect for the $30 million institution, presented various proposals of how elements of the new school could be built and outlined some of the space requirements which would be needed. The discussion centered on plans for building a basic sciences and clinical building and it has not been decided whether to con-struct one or two buildings for these areas of learning. Formation of an approving au-thority to speed decisions reached by personnel here for the new school was discussed so that ap-propriate recommendations may be made to the boards of direc-tors of both LSU and the Con-federate Medical Center. General concurrence, was reached that ari "attempt be mad,e to have a finalized plan ready for presentation to the LSU board at its October meeting. Representing the LSU interests were, in addition to Dr. Hunter, Dr. M. D. Woodlin, executive vice president of LSU; Dr. William W. Frye, chancellor of the LSU Medical Center; Dr. Edgar Hull, associate dean of the LSU Medi-cal Center; Dr. George Meneely, coordinator for development of plans and program for the new school and Joe LeSage, a mem-ber of the LSU board, and Dr. Bob Maddox. Others present, besides Weiner, included T. B. Lanford, Dr. Edgar Galloway, Dr. Joe Holoubek, Dr. Charles Black and J. Bennett Johnston. Dr. Hunter also indicated that the LSU board would be recep-tive to suggestions made by Shreveport personnel for a name for the new school.
