Nutrition to be topic
In observance of National Nutrition Month, Riv-erside
Community Hospital's community courses
.program will be focused on food and health in
March.
"Food and Your Child" will be at 7 p.m. Thursday
and March 24. Faculty will be Dr. Norman Winter-ton,
pediatrician; Dr. Eric LeBlanc, dentist; and
Karlin Carey, dietitian.
"Diet Do's and Don'ts" will be at 7 p.m. Monday
and March 21. Instructors will be Ms. Karlin and
Debbie Berryman, manager of Riverside food and
nutritional services.
Enzyme capsule
A new enzyme capsule for people who have milk
intolerance has been introduced by Kremers-Urban
Co. of Milwaukee, Wise. It is called Lactrase.
Mark Bryan, Kremers-Urban's local representa-tive,
said it is available here, both as a prescription
and over-the-counter drug, for people who have
trouble digesting milk or milk products.
Visiting lecturer
Dr. Kermit E. Krantz of Kansas City, Kan., will be
the visiting lecturer March 23 in the Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology, LSU Medical Center
School of Medicine.
He will direct a conference on stress incon-tinence,
beginning at 7:30 a.m., and will lecture at 8
p.m., his topic being "Sex, Science and Religion."
Krantz is professor and chairman of obstetrics
and gynecology, professor of anatomy, and an as-sociate
to the executive vice chancellor for facilities
development at the University of Kansas, College of
Health Sciences.
He is known for his Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz
Procedure for Urinary Stress Incontinence, accord-ing
to LSUMC. He has been a consultant to the Sur-geon
General of the U.S. Air Force since 1964 and
has been an examiner for the American Board of
Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1978.
Wednesday is the deadline for registration for the
Visiting Lecture program.
Rummage sale
A rummage sale will be held March 26 at the Vir-ginia
Hall nursing home as part of the 1983 Rock and
Roll fund drive for heart research.
The sale will be 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
It will be one of the benefits being held in nursing
homes affiliated with Louisiana Health Care As-sociation.
The LHCA has set a $100,000 goal for
Rock and Roll '83 to continue funding research and
public education on heart disease.
Gifts
A portable TV set and three infant carriers will be
presented to the children's wing of LSU Hospital
Saturday by the Elvis Love's Still Burning fan club.
The gifts will be made in memory of Elvis
Presley, said Jane Anderson, who with Mary Logan
is president of the fan club.
Adelaide Creamer, director of volunteer services
at the hospital, said the group has made previous
donations to the children's wing.
