Bust of Hippocrates Unveiled
A bronze bust of
Hippocrates by Shreveport
artist Leslie Stewart
Meneely has been placed
in West Paces Ferry
Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
The sculpture was
commissioned by the
hospital's auxiliary
through its administrator
Samuel W. Pangborn.
The bust was unveiled at
a dinner Monday evening
before a meeting of the
hospital's medical staff.
The sculpture is done in
the artist's realistic
contemporary style and
r e f l e c t s sculptural
c o n v e n t i o n s of
Hippocrates' time.
Mrs. Meneely is the
daughter of the famous
surgeon George David
Stewart. Her husband is a
teacher of medicine.
Her work is included in
private and university
collections and has been
shown in many regional
and national exhibitions.
Recently Mrs. Meneely
was honored by election as
a sculptor member of the
Catherine Lorillard Wolfe
Art Club, Inc.
This bronze bust of Hippocriates by Shreveport artist
Leslie Stewart Meneely has been placed in the West
Paces Ferry Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. It was commis-sioned
