to receive Falk Award
Wilson H. "Butch" Harrington
Jr. will receive the Arnold J. Falk
Award today during the annual
"Salute to the Handicapped Week"
luncheon.
The award symbolizes a notable
contribution by a disabled person
who has persevered in the struggle
to work productively and who has
displayed service to the communi-ty.
It is named for Arnold Falk,
executive director of the Com-munity
Council.
Harrington, 38, works at LSU
Medical Center microfilming
personnel, payroll, accounting and
purchasing records. He is a
graduate of Woodlawn High School
and received a certificate in ac-counting
from Shreveport Business
College.
He is married and lives in
Bossier City.
An award to the "Employer of
the Year" will be given to Western
Electric for its outstanding record
in the employment of handicapped
persons. Shreveport mayor-elect
John Hussey will make the presen-tation.
Also in attendance will be Mrs.
Hussey, president of the Communi-ty
Council; Congressman Buddy
Roemer; Forrest Dunn, past presi-dent
of the Community Council;
and past recipients of the Falk
Award.
