Heads Named
At Med School
Dr. Adrian F. Reed, profes-sor
of internal medicine at
Pulane University, New Or-leans,
and Dr. Erich K. Lang,
radiologist at the Methodist
Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind.,
have been named to head
departments at the Louisiana
State University School of
Medicine in Shreveport.
Dr. Reed has been named
professor and head of the
department of anatomy, while
Dr. Lang has been named
chairman of the department of
radiology at the school. In
addition, Dr. Lang will serve
as head of the department of
radiology at Confederate Me-morial
Medical Center.
DR. EDGAR HULL, dean of
the LSU School of Medicine
here, announced Dr. Reed's
appointment, while both Dr.
Hull and Dr. Edgar Galloway,
administrator at Confederate,
announced the appointment of
Dr. Lang.
Dr. Reed, who will assume
his position here next spring, is
a native of Terre Haute, Ind.,
received his B. A. degree from
DePauw University, his M.A.
and Ph.D. in anatomy from
Cornell University and his
M.D. from Tulane. He served
as intern and house officer at
the McLeod Infirmary in Flor-ence,
S.C. He also served as an
instructor on the faculty of
Cornell in gross anatomy and
neuroanatomy and in gross
anatomy at Tulane. He was
appointed associate professor
in 1960 and professor in 1962.
THE AUTHOR OF numerous
scientific papers, Dr. Reed has
served several terms on the
university Sena. Admissions
Committee and Student Finan-cial
Aid Committee at Tulane.
He is a member of Sigma Xi,
Omicron Delta Kappa, Ameri-can
Association of Anatom-ists.
Society for Experimental
Biology and Medicine, Orleans
and Louisiana Medical Society,
American and Southern Medi-cal
Associations and other
medical groups.
A native of Vienna, Austria,
Dr. Lang was educated at
Arbitur, Columbia University
and the University of Vienna.
He served ;is an assistant
resident in the Research Resi-dency
of Radiology at the
University of Vienna, as an
assistant resident and intern at
the University of Iowa Hospi-tal,
Iowa City, and as resident
in radiology at the Johns
Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore,
Md. He also served as an
instructor in radiology at Johns
Hopkins University.
A FORMER MAJOR in the
U.S. Army Reserve Medical
Corp, Dr. Lang is a member of
the American Board of Radiol-ogy
and Nuclear Medicine. He
is also a member of the
Summa Cum Laude Society of
Viennese Gymnasium, an hon-orary
member of the Mahar-ashtra
State Radiological So-ciety,
Bombay, India and is
associaate editor of "Radiolo-gy,"
the Indiana State Medical
Journal.
