Amino acid expert to speak
Dr. Alton Meister of Cornell Uni-versity
Medical School, an authority
on the amino acids, will lecture at
LSU Medical Center
Thursday.
Meister is the next
lecturer in the Visiting
Scientist series at the
medical school. He
will speak on the cycle
of glutathione —
metabolism and func-tion.
He is professor and
chairman of biochemistry at Cornell
and author of "Biochemistry of the
Amino Acids," which is in its second
printing. His research works include
the discovery of previously un-recognized
enzymes and
metabolites.
Before joining the faculty of Cor-nell
in 1967, Meister was chairman of
the biochemistry department at
Tufts University School of Medicine
Meister in Boston.
