Genetics group
plans meeting
Dr. Harold Chen, chief of the Birth Defects
Center at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, will
preside at the summer meeting of the Southern
Genetics Group Friday and Saturday in
Shreveport.
The meeting will bring professionals from New
Orleans; Jackson, Miss.; Mobile, Ala.; Helena,
Mont.; Knoxville, Tenn.; and Denton, Texas.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at
Ramada Inn, where the opening session will begin
,at 7 p.m. Saturday's sessions will be held at LSU
Medical Center, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Room
1-400.
A discussion of the role of community volunteers
in a regional genetics program will be on the
program at noon Saturday.
Sponsors are the LSUMC Department of
Pediatrics and Shreveport Chapter of the March of
Dimes Birth Defects Foundation.
