banquet planned
A highlight of Professional Nurse Week, May
24-30, will be the Shreveport District Nurses Associa-tion's
Nurse of the Year Awards banquet and dance
Friday, May 29, at the Hilton Inn in Bossier City.
Nurse of the Year awards will be presented to
nominees from Minden Registered Nurses Associa-tion,
Minden Medical Center, Natchitoches Parish
Hospital, Northwestern State University College of
Nursing, Physicians and Surgeons Hospital, Doctors
Hospital, Schumpert Medical Center, Bossier Medical
Center, Caddo Parish schools, LSU Hospital, Highland
Hospital and community health units.
A senior nursing student will receive a
scholarship from the association.
Steve Munds, gospel rock singer, will be on the
banquet program, and Ron Green and The Green
Machine will play for the dance.
Professional Nurse Week was proclaimed by the
mayors of Shreveport and Bossier City Friday at a
ceremony at Shreveport City Hall. It calls for reaf-firmation
of commitment to goals of the profession in
the interest of good nursing care.
Present at the ceremony were Dr. Marie Allen,
president of the Shreveport District Nurses Associa-tion,
and Dr. JoAnne Molner of its board of directors.
