For Medical
Unit Delayed
Opening of bids for construc-tion
of the Confederate Memo-rial
Medical Center's $1.3 mil-lion
outpatient facility has been
delayed one week, Dr. George
Meneely, associate dean of the
Louisiana State University Med-ical
School at Shreveport, said
yesterday.
Bids were scheduled to be
taken yesterday at 2 p.m. in
Baton Rouge, but because of "a
small addendum" to the propos-al,
the bid date was moved up
until next Thursday at 2 p.m.
Bids will be taken in the office
of Cecil Hill, director of the
capital outlay budget board.
The addendum was added
'for clarification of some ele-ment
of the specifications," said
Meneely, who explained that
anytime an addendum is added
within 72 hours before the bid
date, "this automatically moves
the bid date up."
The facility will be paid for
with $900,045 in federal funds
and $450,000 in state capital
outlay funds.
The three-story outpatient fa-cility
will be erected adjacent to
the present outpatient wing. The
ground floor will contain the
record l i b r a r y . The walk-in
clinic will be on the first floor
and the medical and medical
speciality clinics will be on the
second floor, while the surgery,
urology and otorhinolaryngology
clinics will be on the third floor.
It will be air conditioned.
