Shreveporter Heads Regents
BATON ROUGE (AP) - The state Board of Regents
elected Shreveporter Robert Pugh to be its chairman
at it's Thursday's meeting.
The board also recommened that the 1981
Legislature allocate $305.1 million in state funding for
public college and university operating budgets in
fiscal year 1981-82.
If approved, the regents' education budget recom-mendation
would provide $45 million in new formula
funds for Louisiana's 19 state colleges and un-iversities.
The board's recommendation represents 100 per-cent
of the state appropriations formula. In his budget
released last week, Gov. Dave Treen recommended
funding the formula at 92 percent.
Others officers selected were Charlie Milam of
Lafayette, vice chairman, and Parletta Holmes of
New Orleans, secretary.
