16-E Sun.. March 15. 1981 SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER The Times
Physicians to hold third annual 'Day of Cardiology'
The third annual "Day of Cardiology" for
physicians will bring a New York cardiologist
and an Ottawa cardiothoracic surgeon to
Shreveport on April 1.
Dr. Wilbert Keon. chairman of surgery and
chief of the cardiac unit at the University of
Ottawa, Canada, and Dr. Simon Stertzer,
attending cardiologist and chief of the cardiac
catheterization unit at Lenox Hill Hospital,
| New York, will be the principal speakers.
Arranged by the physician education com-mittee
of the American Heart Association-
Louisiana Inc., the seminar will be held at the
Regency Motor Hotel beginning at 8 a.m.
Keon will have a case presentation on
surgery for complications of acute
myocardial infarction at 10:30 a.m., and
another on the role of endarterectomy in
coronary artery surgery at 1 p.m.
Stertzer will have case presentations on
intraluminal coronary angioplasty techniques
at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Dr. Patricia Moynihan, chairman of the
sponsoring committee, and Dr. A. Wayne
Owens, president of AHA-Louisiana, will open
the seminar.
Dr. David Caskey, Shreveport cardiologist,
will moderate the morning session, and Dr.
Charles Powers, Bossier City internist, will
moderate the afternoon session.
On the program are Dr. Joseph A. Little of
LSU Medical Center; Dr. Robert McVee,
pediatrician; Dr. Michael Turner, AHA-Louisiana
president-elect; Dr. Ralph Baucum,
chief of pediatric cardiology at LSUMC; Dr.
Mike Futrell, cardiologist; Dr. Pete
Blanchard, internist; Dr. Fortune Dugan, New
Orleans cardiologist; Dr. Tom Quaid, Baton
Rouge cardiologist; Dr. Henry Hanley, VA and
LSUMC cardiologist; Dr. John Henry, cardiac
surgeon; Dr. Richard Barnett, cardiologist;
Dr. Sarjit Gill, cardiac surgeon; Dr. Tom
Smith, cardiologist; and Dr. Albert Hand,
pathologist.
Stertzer is an attending physician at
Bellevue Hospital and Manhattan VA
Hospital, as well as attending cardiologist at
New York School of Medicine and Lenox Hill
Hospital.
Keon is surgeon-in-chief at the Ottawa
Civic Hospital, where he also is chairman and
chief of the division of cardiothoracic surgery.
He is vice chairman of the medical advisory
committee of the Canadian Heart Association.
