author of over 125 published articles in scientific journals, he won the Interame-rican College of Radiology Gold Medal Award in 1968 and the American College of Radiology Gold Medal Award in 1969. A native of Canada, Dr. MacEwan earned the American Board of Radiology diploma in radiology and medallion in nuclear medicine in 1958. He received his B.S. and M.D.C.M. degrees and diploma in radiology at McGill Universi-ty. He also has earned a certification in therapeutic ra-diology, fellowship in diagnostic radiology, and a C.S.P.Q. in radiology. University appointments in-clude assistant professor in radiology at McGill, professor and chairman of radiology and lecturer in anatomy at the University of Monitoba. He is a member of the McGill Medical Postgraduate Board and the International Commit-tee of Radiological Information. He is chairman of the McGill Alma Mater Fund, faculty of m e d c i n e , McGill; Scientific Program Committee of the Canadian Association of Radiol-ogists and the Committee on Training and Qualififcations of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Canadian Association of Radiol-ogists. Dr. MacEwan is senior exam-iner of the Canadian Board of Radiology. Dr. Meschan holds the B.A.. M.A. and M.D. degrees from the Western Reserve Universi-ty, Cleveland, Ohio. A member of the American Board of Radiology a n d the Commission on Edu-cation, American College of Radiology, Dr. Meschan is also a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, Southern Medical Association, Associa-tion of University Radiologists, American Roentgen Ray Socie-ty, Alpha Omega Alpha honor-ary medical society, Radiologi-al Society of North America, North Carolina Radiological So-ciety and Academic Radiology Department Chairmen. Dr. Meschan is consultant to the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies, Walter Reed Army Hospital, Department of Radiology Seminar to Begin Thursday at Medieal Center Chairmen of four depart-ments of radiology will be guest speakers at the radiology post-graduate seminar Thursday and Friday at the Confederate Me-morial Medical Center audito-rium. Sponsored by the Louisiana State University School of Medi-cine here, tne program is acceptable for 11 hours credit from the American Academy of General Practice. Dr. E. K. Lang is program chan-man. Registration will be from 8:30-9 a.m. Thursday. Advance registration is requested, but not required. The registration tee is $35. Checks snould be made to the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport and mailed to Robert R. Graves, Business Office, LSU School of Medicine, 510 E. Stoner Ave. Keynote speakers will be Dr. Philip J. Hodes, professor and chairman, department of radiol-ogy, Thomas Jefferson Univer-sity Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa.; Dr. Douglas W. MacEwan, professor and chairman, de-partment of radiology, The Uni-versity of Manitoba Winnipeg G e n e r a l Hospital, Winnipeg, Canada; Dr. Isadore Meschan, professor and chairman, Bow-man Gray School of Medcine, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and Dr. Walter M. Whitehouse, profes-sor and chairman, department of radiology, University Hospi-tal, The University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor. Dr. MacEwan will discuss "Air and Positive Contrast Arthrography (Synovial Abnor-malities in Large Joints)" and "Detail for Improved Diagnosis During Exretory Urography." "The Roentgen Manifesta-tions of Very Early Gastric Carcinoma" and "Small Bowel Manifestations of Systemic Dis-ease," will be Dr. Hodes' topics. Dr. Meschan will speak on "Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia — What is it?" and "Compara-tive Study of Gastrocamera and Roentgen Studies of the Stom-ach." "Current Status of Obstetrical Radiology" and "Radiiographic Spectrum of Bronchial Carcino-ma," will be presented by Dr. Whitehouse. Also on the program will be f i l m - r e a d i n g sessions and "Roentgen Diagnosis of Trau-ma to the Urinary Tract," by Dr. Lang. The Ark-La-Tex Radiologist Society will partici-pate in a film-reading session. Dr. Hodes holds B.S. and M.D. degrees from the Univer-sity of Pennsylvania, where he was a research a s s i s t a n t , served as an intern and held a fellowship in radiology. He earned his D. Sci. in radiology from the university's Graduate School of Medicine in 1940. A diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, he is a fellow and vice president of the American Roentgen Ray Socie-ty and holds membership in several other professional socie-ties. He was chancellor of the American College of Radiology 1957-59 and was secretary for the Fifth Inter-American Con-gress of Radiology and is visiting professor to eight uni-versities. Or.
