Ronald Sommer, associate
brarian at Louisiana State Uni-versity

port, has received the Mildrec
Jordan Scholarship for the sum
mer quarter at Emory Universi
ty, Atlanta, Ga.
He will take a concentrated
course i nmedial librarianship
which will include the survey
and evaluation of medical bibli-ography,
and the use of medical
library resources in medical
education, medical research and
care of the patient.
The course also covers special
application of library techniques,
administrative organization,
procedures and practices in the
field of medical librarianship.
At LSU, Sommer is in charge
of the reference and circulation
departments.
He received the B.S. degree in
English and the master of
science degree in library science
from Florida State University.
He came to Shreveport from
th University of Florida, where
he was associate librarian in
charge of the graduate Engineer-ing
Education System Libraries.
He has also worked as a school
librarian, with the New York
Public Library System, was a
graduate assistant at Florida
State and was a inference
librarian at the Engineering and
Physics Library *t the Universi
ty of Florida.
