The 27th annual convention
of the Louisiana State Society
of Medical Technologists will
be held May 7-8 at the Captain
Shreve Hotel with some of the
nation's top medical technolo-gists
expected to attend.
Highlights of the two-day
convention will be the presen-tation
of the annual Ortho
Award for the best scientific
paper on blood banking and
the election of new officers.
Among the speakers will be
Dr. Arthur L. Fort, head of
the department of obstetrics
and gynecology at LSU Medi-cal
School in Shreveport; Dr.
Warren Grafton, director of
clinical l a b o r a t o r i e s at
Confederate Memorial Medi-cal
Center; Dr. Ruth Guy,
director of the Parkland Hos-pital
Blood Bank in Dallas
a n d assistant professor of
pathology at the University of
Tesas Southwestern Medical
School; Dr. Bettina Hillman,
associate professor of pedia-trics
and microbiology at LSU
in Shreveport; Dr. Steffen W.
Smith, vice president of re-search
and development for
Stanbio Laboratories; Dr. Ike
Muslow, director of medical
education at Willis-Knighton
Hospital; John Liu, chemist
with P. L. Bio Chemicals,
Inc., and Dr. Richard Juberg,
associate professor of pedia-trics
at LSU-S.
Outgoing president is Her-bert
W. Goad, education coor-dinator
for the School of
M e d i c a l Technologists at
Confederate Memorial, with
Marie Sanders, medical tech-n
o 1 o g i s t at the Shreveport
Emergency Blood Bank, as
outgoing secretary. President
elect is Gary Malcolm of New
Orleans.
