Excerpted text	New interest in the theory that flies are carriers of the poliomyelitis (infantile paralysis) virus has served to bring forward the leading role that Louisiana scientists, past and present, have played and are playing in the laboratory battles against this common enemy. A leading authority in the United States on poliomyelitis is Louisiana's Dr. George W. McCoy, who helped fight the great New York epidemic of 1916. No less able are Dr. Albert E. Casey of Louisiana State university's medical school who participated in the latest general research program; Dr. Branch J, Aymond, formerly with the Louisiana state board of health and Dr. L. L. Lumsden, retired mem- ber of the United States Public Health Service, who studied the infantile paralysis outbreak in Kentucky in 1937.
