Approximately 6150 employes of 17 local business and industrial firms will take a simple test this Waek for diabetes.
In addition, testing strips will bs distributed to 650 pupils of St F-.ancis Xavier school, to 4000 employes of the Orleans parish school board and to 900 firemen of the New Orleans fire depart-mgntv A total of 600 strips will a"1 so be placed in the locker room of the Metairie Country Cub. This means 6150 additional persons of 12,300 in all.
This all-out effort to unearth unsuspected cases of diabetes will be a feature of the local observance here of Diabetes Week.
The children at St. Francis Xavier school will take the strips home so their parents can help them with the testing.
The testing strips will be dispatched for analysis to the Orleans Parish Medical Society's special testing laboratory. Here physicians, who are members of the society, will volunteer their time and energy to running off tests and making reports. Each employe tested will receive a private report.
