Gov. Earl K. Long rested under treatment of psychiatrists in a Covington motel today while a Caddo parish legislator talked of a possible impeachment move "to end the turmoil in the state and take the eyes of the nation off Louisiana."
A few hours after he maneuvered his release from a mental hospital yesterday the thin, worn
voluntarily called in physicians and indicated he would follow their orders of complete rest for several days.
Dr. Paul Pratt of the East Louisiana State hospital at Jaekson took over direct charge of Long with instructions from three New Orleans
physicians to go with Long wherever he goes and to keep him from becoming excited, Plans Talks with Soion&
Rep. Jasper K. Smith ci Vivien said he will discuss with legislators throughout the state the possibility of moving to oust Long from office through impeachment action
Smith said he realizes he would battle tremendous odds because Long holds strong majorities in both houses oi the Legislature, but:
"It appears the only thin^ that can be done to restore dignity to government is im peachment. We may not havi the vote but we must explore the possibility, and certain!* as legislators vye have the re sponsibility of doing so."
He declared there has beei nothing but turmoil and strif< in Louisiana under Long's ad ministration
