GUNMEN PLACE SECOND IN INITIAL RIFLE COMPETITION Inter-Club Match Planned; Trophies For High Point Men The Loyola Rifle Club distinguished itself on Sunday, March 29, 1931, by placing second in the team match held on the Shrewsbury Rifle Range under the of the New Orleans Rifle Club. The score of the Loyola unit was 1107 which was only topped by the second team of Headquarters Troop, 108 th Cavalry with 1116. The first team of Headquarters Troop, 108 th Cavalry was third with 1106; the Pelican Rifle Club, fourth, with 1105; Marine Reserves, 1096; New Orleans Rifle Club, 1083; Headquarters 156 th Infantry, 1081; Troop 1, 108 th Cavalry, 1078; Crescent City Rifle Club, 1056. The Loyola team was composed of six men chosen from the entire membership of the club by Coach Pedneau on the showing made in rifle practice. Members who fired and their scores were: Bill Scheyd 191; Harold Whitley 186; Nelson Guidry 186; Bill Grillet 185; Rafael Diaz 182, and Gertrude Hansen Will Be Starred In "Doll House" Helen Cahill. Rouchell, Buchman, Complete Supporting Cast Gertrude Hansen, night school studen, will be starred in the coming Ibsen tragedy, "The Doll House," to be presented soon by the Thespians. Miss Hansen will appear in a new role, that of Nora Helmer, the spoiled and pampered wife. Miss Hansen possesses charm and personality and will thrill the audience with her interpretations of this most difficult part. Harold Rouchell, who has heretofore played "old man" roles almost exclusively, will appear in a different characterization in "The Doll House." Doc Bonomo recognizes in Rouchell an apt actor for the leading male role of the loving but selfish husband. Bonomo, who gave Loyola playgoers 'Grumpy," "A Tailor Made Man," and "The Enemy," is again responsible for the staging and direction.Helen Cahill, Carl Buchman and others complete the cast. ABRAHAM HOLDS MANY REHEARSALS FOR SPANISH PLAY Expect To Present "El Chico" By End of Current Month The Spanish Club continues its rehearsals of La Praviana and Manana de Sol under the direction of Howard Bogner and Miss Jesse Montejo. Miss Montejo expects to make a change in one of the feminine characters of La Praviana, but she has not definitely decided. Miss E. Monasterio, daughter of Professor J. Monasterio will probably fill the role which Miss Montejo expects to change. Joseph Abraham held numerous rehearsals previous to the examinations and immediately fololwing so as to make up for time which he anticipated losing because of Felician Lozes' departure on the debating tour. However, the play El Chico is far advanced at this date and Mr. Abraham and his cast are in a position to present it with two weeks' preparation. At the time of this publication announcement of the date set for the presentations by the Spanish Club cannot be decided. It is expected that they may be ready for the end of April, and at the latest, by the middle of May. —Courtesy Item-Tribune. COUNCIL'S EFFORT PUTS TROPHY CASE IN MARQUETTE HALL Trophies Won By University Displayed In Administration Building When Loyola students came to school Thursday, April 9, they were surprised to find the trophy cases in Marquette Hall containing more trophies than anyone suspected the school had ever won. The three cases which are now lined up on display on both sides of the stairway on the main floor of Marquette Hall, were formerly located in the president's office which is of course rather private. Few students even knew that the trophies existed. The cases contain seventeen trophies and cups contributed by Tad Gormley's track, cross country and boxing teams during the three years that Goimley has been at Loyola.
