Visiting Board Established For College Of Pharmacy Establishment of a board of visitors for the college of pharmacy has been announced by the Very Rev. Andrew C. Smith, S.J., university president.Father Smith said the board, comprised of persons prominent in the field of pharmacy, will visit the college periodically, make suggestions for its improvement, consult with administrators on trends in pharmaceutical education and practice and lend moral and financial aid in improving standards, faculty and facilities. Named to the board are Sidney J. Besthoff Jr., president of Katz and Besthoff Co.; Edward S. Bopp, member of the board of directors of Charity Hospital; Murray F. Cleveland, attorney for the Louisiana State Board of Pharmacy and the Louisiana State Pharmaceutical Association; Carroll J. Delery, representative for Merck, Sharp and Dohme division of Merck and Company drug manufacturers. Also, Joseph S. Lucas, president of Medical Arts Pharmacy; Carroll Mooney, member of the Louisiana State Board of Pharmacy; Paul Arceneaux, president of the New Orleans branch of McKesson and Robbins Wholesale Drug Company. Also, Sidney P. Kernion, vice-president of the New Orleans branch, Meyer Brothers Drug Company; Monroe Lyons, president of I. L. Lyons and Company drug wholesalers and Hatler P. Smith, southern district manager of the Eli Lilly Company. Four members from outside New Orleans will be named at a later date, Father Smith said. LU Fraternities To Initiate 95 Loyola's four social fraternities will initiate 95 men in ceremonies this month and next. ÜBL will conduct their formal initiation ceremonies on Sunday, December 13. ADG and Beggars ceremonies are slated for Sunday, December 20, while SAK's initiation will take place after the holidays on January 9, 1965. Sigma Alpha Kappa led the list in numbers, tapping 28 pledges, followed closely by Upsilon Beta Lambda with 27. Alpha Delta Gamma pledged 21 and Beggars 19. Pledged to Alpha Delta Gamma are Ted Adams, Anthony Bianca, Paul Boumans, Robert Brupbacher, Russell Corb, Michael Crow, Joseph Etienne, John Famularo, Lee Freeman, Jim Jackoniski, Thomas Kelly, Daniel Kenny, Richard Lazzara, Howard Maestri, Bill O'Brien, John Perez, Joseph Prieur, Gerald Schoen, Bill Homecoming To Greet Grads By DAN KENNY Preparations for Homecoming Week 1964 are in full swing, and they give every indication of producing one of the most successful homecomings in Loyola's history. This week of welcome to the old grads begins with the annual Alumni Mass at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in Holy Name church. Speaking at the Mass will be the Rev. W. Patrick Donnelly, S.J., former Loyola president, who is now president of Jesuit high school in El Paso. A breakfast for the alumni follows in Danna center. At 5:30 p.m., Archbishop John Patrick Cody will formally dedicate Biever hall, Danna center, and the Blenke Utilities building. Alumni president Joseph F. Blasi will serve as master of ceremonies. After the dedication, alumni will gather for a cocktail party in Danna center. The entire student body will be on hand Monday at 11 a.m. in the fieldhouse for the convocation in honor of the Golden Anniversary grads of 1914. HIGHLIGHTING Tuesday's activities will be Blue Key Talent Nite at 8 p.m. in the fieldhouse. There will be 18 acts in this year's show and ÜBL will be out to repeat their victory in last year's fraternity skit competition, as will the MJR trio in the group category. Jo Ann Soab was the individual winner in last year's competition.Wednesday is Loyola Day at the Fair Grounds. Homecoming Queen Tek Bassham will present a bouquet to the winner of the feature race of the day. The annual Alumni Luncheon will be held Thursday at noon in the Blue Room of the Roosevelt hotel. Judging of the homecoming decorations displayed by the social fraternities and sororities also will take place at this time. TAKING PART in the competition will be ÜBL and Tri Phi in the horseshoe; ADG and Tri Sigma in front of Cummings hall; SAK and TPA on the Tulane side of the fieldhouse and Beggars and KBG on the Calhoun street side of the fieldhouse. The awards for best decorations will be presented during the halftime activities of the Homecoming game between Loyola and Tulsa at 8 p.m. in the fieldhouse. Identical awards will be presented to both the fraternity and sorority who combined to produce the best display. All others will receive a certificate of appreciation for their endeavors during Homecoming Week. The 25th Anniversary Class of 19-39 reunion will be Saturday on campus and the high spot of the entire week will be the Homecoming Ball at 9 p.m. in Danna center. Featured at the ball will be the formal presentation of the Homecoming Queen and her court of six maids. Alumni chairman Dr. Edward E. Levy, '47, and his committee are planning a champagne breakfast immediately following the ball. Tickets for the Homecoming Ball are on sale at Petetin's, Continental Homestead, Loyola book store and the alumni office. They are priced at $5 per couple, including breakfast, champagne and mixers. 1914 Grads Honored Thirteen golden jubilee alumni, members of the class of 1914, will be honored during Homecoming Week at convocation ceremonies, 11 a.m., Monday in the fieldhouse. Mr. Louis Read, general manager of WDSU television and a Loyola alumnus, will deliver the main address. The honor graduates will be presented mahogony placques in honor of the occasion. Grnduat.es from the 1914 class of the college of arts and sciences are: Mr. Pierre F. Choppin, Mr. Henry B. Curtis, Mr. Felix W. Gaudin, Mr. Henry L. Hammett, and Mr. Edward C. Meric, all of New Orleans. Graduates from the school of pharmacy are: Mr. E. H. Beaucoudray, New Orleans; Mr. Clay R. Breaux, Lafayette, La.; Mr. Harold P. Drumm, Gretna, La.; Mr. Pascal J. Liuzza, New Orleans; Mr. Arthur B. McArthur, New Orleans; Dr. Albert H. Moore, Baton Rouge; Mr. Marion W. Stewart, Amite, La.; and Mr. E. Burton White, Garyville, La. Sorority Open Rush The Women'# Pan-Hellenic Council announces that sorority open bidding began Tuesday, and will continue through March 15. All coeds with 24 sem. hours, not on scholastic probation, and who have not pledged a sorority are eligible to participate. These coeds will be allowed to attend clsoed functions of the sororities by invitation from that sorority. (See FRATERNITIES, pg. G)
