Father of three Loyola students and president-elect of the alumni association, Gisevius has been active in alumni affairs for many years. Chairman of the national rehabilitation committee of the National Association of Compensation Attorneys and author of numerous articles on torts and compensation law, he is also active in church, civic and profes- The chairman expressed a special interest in having a record number of out-of-town alumni on hand for the various Homecoming: events. One of the new features planned by Mr. Gisevius is the first annual "deans conference with alumni." Saluting the 50th anniversary of Loyola's charter as a university, the Homecoming week schedule will be: Sunday, Dec. 3—Homecoming Mass and breakfast, 8 a.m., Holy Name Church; deans' conference with alumni, 3:30 p.m., Marquette auditorium; General reunion, cocktails, 5-7 p.m., fieldhouse. Tuesday, Dec. s.—Convocation for 50-year grads, 11 a.m., fieldhouse; Homecoming game, Loyola vs. California Aggies, 8 p.m., fieldhouse. Thursday, Dec. 7—A n n u a 1 luncheon, 12 noon, Blue Room, Roosevelt hotel. Saturday, Dec. 9—All day reunion, Silver Jubilee class of '36, campus; Homecoming ball, 9 p.m., International Room, Roosevelt hotel.Chairmen of the various events as named by Mr. Gisevius are: M. Jubin, '38, decorations.FRANK GISEVIUS The inside story Education chairman gives tips for last 5 days of examinations By EUGENE KATSANIS There are still five days left for midsemester exams and there is still time for advice on how to study for the rest of them. Dr. Thomas Moran, chairman of the education department, tells students to get a good night's rest before exams so that they will be fresh and cheerful for the brutal ordeal. He explains the PQRST method which is supposed to help studying from a text. For details of this helpful advice turn to ... page 5 4D Senior Lucy Schwab selected as Miss Wolf by annual staff Active campus coed By PAMELA LEAK Lucy Schwab, petite, vivacious A&S senior, has been elected Miss Wolf for the Loyola Golden Anniversary year, 1961-62. Qualifications for the title include outstanding leadership, scholarship, personality, and participation in campus activities. Miss Wolf is elected by the editorial staff of the Wolf yearbook. She is a senior in elementary education; president of Phi Phi Phi social sorority; recipient of the Bene Meritum outstanding junior girl award last year; corresponding secretary of Cardinal Key honor sorority; and a member of LSL; the Sodality; Kappa Delta Pi national honorary education society; Delta Epsilon Sigma, national Catholic Scholastic society; and junior representative on the Student Council last year. Lucy is a 5-1 blonde, with twinkling blue eyes and a warm smile. When first told of her election she squealed with excitement, "Really? Me? Oh you're kidding! I can't believe it. I'm so excited. Thank you, thank you!" In looking back on her reaction she said, "I nearly collapsed on the spot." The secret of her success is so many extracurricular activities besides maintainingmaintaining a "B" average is "the budgeting of time, and a good, thick reminder notebook. Also I try not to waste too much time." Lucy plans to teach in the New Orleans Catholic Schools for a year, and then possibly teach in South America. She is also considering teaching with the Peace Corps. She is at Loyola on a scholarship given by the New Orleans Diocese for elementary education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schwab, 1010 Cherokee, and graduated from Holy Name high. The Loyola coed is the second Miss Wolf chosen, and she will share a position with the Campus Court in the yearbook's beauty section. Miss Wolf is meant by the staff to serve as an exemplar of the typical Loyola coed. Her sorority sisters report that Lucy is loved and admired by all the girls in her sorority, and that she is looked upon as a very capable leader. She is a typical and outstanding Loyola coed and is the girl voted most likely to succeed by The Wolf staff. it it Series offers second film "The Last Bridge" is the second offering of the Loyola Film Series scheduled for Nov. 12. This Austrian movie is a story about a captured German doctor who is forced to care for the war prisoners. More about the film on . . . page 6 it it it Sneaky ways are listed Columnist Bobby Hobson lists several "sneaky ways" for the Loyola coeds to catch a man. She gives several situations that one may find one's self in and what to say in each case. It has good points for the female and a good source of inside information for you men.
