the MAROON Vol. XXXVI Loyola University, New Orleans, La., Friday, January 9, 1959 No. 11 Band Concert Set Sunday | FINAL EXAMS TO BEGIN JAN. 14th Students 'Ready' For Exams Final examinations for the fall semester will be conducted from Wednesday, January 14, through Wednesday, January 21 in the college of arts and sciences, according to the Rev. Edward A. Doyle, S.J., dean. All regularly scheduled classes will be cancelled and only the exams will be held during this period. Departmental examinations will be taken at the same time for all sections in that department regardless of whether the class meets at the time the exam is scheduled for or not. A list of room! in which the departmental exams will be held has been posted on the bulletin boards, along with the names of the proctor*. All other examinations will be held in the room the class usually meets and will be under the supervision of the regular professor. Students who find that there is a conflict between two or more exams are asked to report to the dean's office by no later than 4 p.m. Monday. Permission of the (lean is required to take an exam late and only for a very grave reason will this permission be given. The exam schedule for A&S is as follows: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14 8:00-10:00—Departmental Examination: Theology 213, 311 also: Biology 101; Education 100; 11:00-1:00—Chemistry 201, Chemistry 205, Chemistry 303, Education 333, Journalism 203, Mathematics 260, Physical Ed 160, Physical Ed 160 A, Physics 307; 2:00-4:00—Departmental Ex(See EXAMS, page 2) EXAMS NEAR—The lull before the storm of final exams is enjoyed by a group of dental students during a "must" period at the library. Throughout the campus students are getting ready to "hit the books" in preparation for exams which begin Wednesday and end on Jan. 21. Shoe Will Boot Illegal Parkers To combat parking violations it has become necessary to initiate the use of the parking shoe on all cars parking illegally on the campus, according to the Rev. Robert L. Boggs, S.J., dean of students.The new system will go into effect Monday, Jan. 12. All illegal parkers on the campus between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. will be punished. The shoe will be placed on the front wheel of the illegally parked car by the campus policeman. To have the shoe removed, it will be necessary to pay a $2.00 fine in the■ office of the dean of students. A receipt for the fine will be given to you and only upon the presentation of the receipt to the policeman will the shoe be removed. The fine for a second violation will be increased to $5.00. "In order to park in the horseshoe, it is necessary that your car have a Loyola parking sticker," Father Boggs said. These may be obtained in the dean of student's office. If there are any complaints or explanations concerning this parking problem, please refer them to the office of the dean of students.
