XXXIII 18th Annual Blue Key Talent Nite To Be Presented Thursday CARL HELLMERS 20 Acts To Comprise Two-Hour Long Show Blue Key's 18th annual Talent Night is slated for Thursday at 8:15 p.m. in the Municipal Auditorium, with some 20 acts comprising the two-hour long show. The acts will include guest stars Carol Cunningham, 1954 first place winner in the individual competition, and the Trebelairs, the three-piece band which copped first place in the group competition. Dan Stapp, president of Blue Key, said that proceeds from the annual entertainment will be utilized in reseating Marquette Auditorium. Opera type seats will be installed replacing the old seats now in use. This benefit was chosen because the auditorium is in constant use for meetings and public entertainment and the need for better facilities is evident, Stapp said. Acts participating in this year's Talent Night are: In the individual class: Edward Merritt, instrumentalist; John Wilmot, monologue; Marilyn Johnson, ballet; Carl Hellmers, instrumentalist.Vocalists: Theresa Kelly, Lynn Murphy, Rita Martin, John A. Salvaggio, Barbara Faulkner, Ralph Slifkin and John Paquette. The group acts include: a percussion ensemble; a piano duet by Lee Sens and Sylvia Deschamps; piano duet by Wanda Laris and Theresa Kelly; a tap dance duet by Janet Perrault and Kenny Martin; the LSL dance group; and the SAK sextet. Among the skits are: the college of music skit; the PKE skit; the evening division skit; and the non-competitive faculty skit. The Loyola concert band, under the direction of George Jansen, will play several selections shortly before the curtain rises at 8:15 p.m. They will also play at the intermission. The Campus Capers will provide musical accompaniment for the acts, under the direction of Louis Pendarvis. Tickets for Talent Night can be purchased from the bookstore, switchboard, and all the members of Blue Key fraternity. Pep Club Cheers The Pep Club, under the direction of Catherine Cummings, president, will perform at the Wolfpack-Louisiana College game tonight at 8:15 in the Fieldhouse. Cheerleaders chosen to work with the group are Jerry Bodet, Henry Manning and Bob Guidry, all A&S sophomores, and Pat Wilkerson, BA sophomore. The Pep Club, accompanied by the Loyola band, performed at last night's game introducing new routines. Take Pictures For '56 Wolf Pictures for The 1956 Wolf, the campus annual, are being taken now through December 9, Vinca Carevich, editor, announced. The photographer is located in The Wolf office. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m. Men students are requested to wear coat and tie; the coeds must wear a white, high-necked blouse. Any student failing to have his picture taken on the days assigned to his college may come in next week to have it taken, Carevich added. Beginning Monday, Mrs. Helen Ellis of Newsfoto Publishing Co., which is taking the pictures, will be on the second floor of Marauette Hall with the proofs. 1955 Homecoming - Campus Court MARY AITKEN NANCY BATTLE MARIANNE HEBERT QUEEN CAROL CUNNINGHAM THERESA KELLY SIMONE LAUDUMIEY SHIRLEY TRUSTY Homecoming Begins Sunday; Events To Open With Mass Alumni Ball To Climax Week-Long Activities The graduates will form in front of Thomas Hall at ■7:45 and march in rank to church to attend the Mass, S.J., assistant professor of economics at Loyola. Delivering the sermon will be the Very Rev. H. L. Crane, S.J., president of Jesuit High and former dean of students at Loyola. Guy Bernard, chairman of the piano department of the college of music will be organist, while Mark Malloy, general chairman of the Class of '30 reunion, and Joseph Bologna, school of law council member, will act as servers. The breakfast following the Mass will be held in the University cafeteria after which honorary membership in the alumni association will be awarded to the Rev. George A. Francis, S.J., professor of chemistry, in honor of his golden jubilee celebration. A cocktail party in the Fieldhouse from 5 to 7 p.m. closes the Sunday activities. The alumni business luncheon will be held at noon Tuesday at the St. Charles Hotel during which time endowment awards will be presented to the two classes with the highest percentage of donors. Homecoming queen Carol Cunningham and her court are scheduled for a day at the races Wednesday when they will be presented at the Fair Ground* for the feature race. The Blue Key Talent Night, Thursday at 8 p.m. is to be the formal coming-out of the homecoming court for the student body. The show is scheduled for the Municipal Auditorium. Saturday, Dec. 10 dates the 25th anniversary celebration for the class of 1930 beginning with Mass, Communion and breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The Rev. Guy J. Lemieux, S.J., '30, will be the celebrant. Also scheduled for Dec. 10 is the class' cocktail party and buffet supper from 5 to 7 p.m. on the campus. Climaxing the social activities of the week will be the Homecoming Ball Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Tulane Room of the Jung Hotel, at which the queen and her court will be presented to the alumni. The Class of 1930 will hold its reception Sunday, Dec. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at 5624 St. Charles Ave. Bringing to a close the 1955 Homecoming activities will be the Loyola-Miami basketball game Monday, Dec. 12 at 8:15 p.m. in the Fieldhouse. FATHER CRANE Hickey little Colonel' ROTCs Little Colonel' Dale B. Hickey, 19-year-old arts and sciences sophomore from Hot Springs, Ark., was named "Little Colonel" of the University's ROTC unit, according to Lt. Col. Luther R. Barth, commandant. Battalion sponsors named by cadets in the ROTC unit are: Lynn Craft, business administration freshman, and Nancy Battle, arts and sciences junior. Craft will be sponsor for the first battalion and Battle for the second battalion. Company sponsors named are: Company A—Shirley Trusty, arts and sciences junior. Company B—Sue Deris, arts and sciences freshman. Company C—Sue Wegmann, arts and sciences junior. Company D—Patsy Giardina, arts and sciences freshman. Carol Cunningham, who was "Little Colonel" of the ROTC unit last year, was named sponsor for the Pershing Rifles. She is a music junior. Sponsor for the regimental band is Yvonne Mateu, arts and sciences freshman. The "Little Colonel" and sponsors will be presented at a regimental review Tuesday at 3 p.m. on the University's drill field, Colonel Barth said. She is the daughter of Mrs. O. F. Pittman of 211 Reid Street, Hot Springs. DALE HICKEY Quality Control Forum Slated Here Dec. 17 A forum on quality control will be held on the campus on Saturday, December 17 from 9 a.m. through 4:15 p.m. The Baton Rouge-New Orleans section of the American Society for Quality Control will sponsor the forum in conjunction with Loyola and co-sponsored by the Louisiana Manufacturers Association.The Baton Rouge-New Orleans section is in the 14th district of the national chapter and comprises Texas, New Mexico, Mexico and Louisiana. Principal address will be delivered by Walter S. Oliver, chairman of the section, who will speak on "Welcome to the Forum" at a luncheon in the University's cafeteria.Dr. Raymond Witte, director of the Loyola evening division will speak on "Welcome to the Loyola Campus;" and the Rev. Joseph A. Butt, S.J., regent of the college of business administration, will speak on "What I Do Not Know About Quality Control."
