XXIX, X-268 Loyola University, New Orleans, Friday, December 14, 19S1 No. 11 Campus Queen Kathy Brady Reigns Tonight At Talent Night Miss Kathy Brady, Loyola's 1951 Campus Queen, will reign over Blue Key's 14th Annual Talent Night tonight at 8 p.m. in the Municipal Auditorium. A native of Houston, Texas, the 20 year old arts and science junior will be presented with her court during in- termissioti of the two hour variety show which will celebrate the twentieth birthday of Loyola's chapter of Blue Key, national honorary fraternity. To mark the occasion, eleven new pledges to the fraternity will also be presented during the program by President Harold Lamy, master of ceremonies. The six coeds making up Miss Brady's court include sophomores Jackie Carriere, last year's queen who was ineligible this year, Ida Chirieleison, and Betty Ann Scheib. Freshmen Nancy Lee Massa, Patsy Stevens, and Mary Jane Williams make up the remainder of the court. All maids are from the College of Arts and Sciences. How To Find That 'Special' One Men! If you have been wondering how you were going to get that cute co-ed's phone number; and girls, if you have been wondering how you were going to call that professor to have those English grades changed, relax. The combination student and faculty directories will be distributed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at noon in the Quadrangle. Get yours early. Blood Drive Set, Beggars Submits To Give As Unit Loyola will have a blood donor drive after the Christmas holidays in connection with the current campaign of the National Red Cross, it was announced today by campus drive chairman Dr. John G. Arnold. Immediately following the announcement, Dr. Arnold said that Beggars Fraternity has volunteered as a group to donate blood and to assist city officials in soliciting student participation. "The immediate objectives of the program in New Orleans are to provide whole blood for use in Korea and also to provide blood to meet the needs of our local civilian population," Dr. Arnold said. Recruiting will start two weeks before the actual donation. During this time each student will be asked to pledge one pint of blood provided they are physically able. Following the pledging a mobile unit will appear on the campus for the operation. A physician attached to the unit will examine prospective donors. Dr. Arnold explained that giving a pint of blood "only reduces a person's resistance as much as an afternoon of strenuous exercise. A person has between 12 Pre-Regisrration For After Holidays After the Christmas holidays, pre-registration for the coming semester will begin, The Re*. George T. Bergen, S. J., acting dean announced. "The pre-registration institution which started last semester has gone so well with both students and faculty that the Administration has decided that it was more effective than waiting for the late registration rush," Father Bergen said. Students are requested not to wait until the last minute to register or undue strain on the faculty will be the outcome, he added. Blue Key Taps 11 Pledges Tonite Eleven students will be tapped for Blue Key National Honor Fraternity tonight at the fourteenth annual Talent Night. These students, representing four of the University's colleges, were selected by members of Blue Key. Pledges are: John Browne, Monroe Caballero, James Cassidy, Dick Christian, George Coumes, Emmett Johnson, Louis Lacour, Anthony Pittari, William Redmann, William Scarlota, and Ed Uzee. Honorary members named are the Rev. Anthony C. O'Flynn, S.J., the Rev. Joseph H. Fichter, Professor Joseph Engler, and Dr. Louis Leggett. John Browne is an A&S senior, co-editor of the Wolf, and a member of ASN, and Monroe Caballero is an A&S senior and captain on the basketball team. James Cassidy is a second year' Dental student, president of the sophomore class, vice-president of the Junior American Dental Association, and a member of SAE, DSD, and the St. Appollonia Sodality. Dick Christian is a Pharmacy sophomore, a member of the Student Council, and a member of APhA. Louis Lacour, a senior in BA, is president of BBA and the Student Council, was named to Who's Who, and a member of the Pan- American Club, the Wolf, the Sanctuary society, APO, SAK, PKE, SLE, the Propeller Club, and SAM. George Coumes, a sophomore in Law School, is the Law School president, a member of the Student Council, the Law Council, Who's Who, and the St. Thomas Moore Law Club. Emmett Johnson, an A&S senior, is a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas sodality, Thespians, Ydemoc, the French club, the Wolf, Pegasus, Med Tech, APO, BEU, Theta Beta, and ASN. Anthony Pittari is a senior in Dentistry, vice-president of the St. Appollonia sodality, president of the Junior American Dental Society, C. Victor Vignes Society president, Who's Who, ASN, DSD. William Redmann is a Law school sophomore, prefect of the St. Ives Sodality, vice-president of the Student Council, vicepresident of SAK, Parliamentarian of the Edward Douglas White Debating Society, Law Review, Who's Who, Thespians, and DTPh: William Scarlota, a music junior, is president of the Music NEW BLUE KEY national honor fraternity member* are, from left to right: Top row: Emmet Johnson, Louis Lacour, John Cassidy, and Dick Christian. Bottom row: Bill Redmann, George Coumes, Ed Uzee, and Al Pittari. Misting from pictures are: Money Caballero, Bill Scarlota, and John Browne. Fr. Doyle Named New A&S Dean The Rev. Edward A. Doyle, S.J., has been appointed Dean of Faculti B, Dean of Arts and Sceinces, and Vice-President of the University, replacing The Rev. George T. Bergen, S.J., assistant dean, who had been acting in those capacities. Father Doyle received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Georgetown University, New York; and his Masters in Arts at Fordham University, in Washington, D.C. He studied philosophy at Spring Hill University at Alabama; and Theology at St. Mary's after which he obtained his Licentiate degree. He finished his post-graduate course in Ascitical Theology at St. Charles College, Grand Coteau, La., and recently received his PhD in education at Catholic University, Washington, D.C. The dean assumed his duties Thursday, and is occupying the office previously held by Father Bergen in Marquette Hall. The assistant dean has his office in the same section. Fr. Doyle was born July 14, 1914. He entered the Society of Jesus Nov. 15, 1935, and was ordained in May, 1946, at St. Mary's University, Kansas. Rev. Edward A. Doyle, S.J.
