It is quiet, state-of-the-art, and has enough information to write the moat difficult research paper imaginable. And judging from this week's meetings, the new library will be exactly what many at Loyola have been asking for. At a meeting with students and faculty on Tuesday, Michael Howard, architect with the Mathes Group, and Dr. David Kaaer, library consultant, gave the first glimpses of what the new library may be like. They offered users of the future library the opportunity to give their suggestions. Kasex, stressing that there was no agenda, said that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the pluses and minuses of the current library and for those present to share their dreams and ideas for the new one. Approximately 20 people, mostly faculty and administrators, attended the session. Despite the small audience, there was no shortage of information. This change occurred to make Pizza Hut and a larger variety of items more accessible to students. The consolidation began when Pizza Hut moved from the St Charles Room to its current location. Plans for the consolidation existed prior to the arrival of Timothy Bamett, Danna Center director and John Perkinson, Loyola Dining Service director, earlier this school year. Bamett arrived at Loyola in July and began completing plans for improving the Danna Center and formulating his own ideas. Those ideas include placing a new service in Grab-n-Go's previous location. Some brainstorms for the space include a dry cleaning and laundry service.TheideaofaTaco Bell restaurant also entertained the administrator's mind. "If data indicates that's definitely what students want and the funds are available, a Taco Bell may be established," Barnett said. If Taco Bell does come to Loyola it may be located in Grab-n-Go's old location or in a renovated Beau Coup. A definite decision will not be made until results of a recent survey of student suggestions conducted by Marriott are complete.Perkinson arrived at Loyola in November and soon became busy with many changes. He monitored both the Pizza Hut and Grab-n-Go to determine the flow of people in and out of the two locations. The observations concluded that combining the two services into the Pizza Hut space would not cause any major congestion. Along with work on the consolidation, Perkinson also changed some aspects of the Orleans Room.
