Description	Sketchbook with black cover belonging to Alfred R. Waud. Inside cover bears inscription "Alfred Rudolph / 290 Broadway / New York, 1853." The word "Rudolph has been partially scratched out, and there is an area of erased or scratched out text following that may have read "Waud." The second page bears two sets of instructions on treating the bite of a mad dog. Following are sketches: a two wheeled cart with a large vessel on its platform, many boats and ships, horses, train cars, a dog, a landscape with a lighthouse atop a bluff, forest scenes, a structure labeled "Cattskill [sic] Laurel House" a falls and stream labeled "Hunter Falls" a dam labeled "Dam above fall - Kattskill [sic]" a sweeping two page landscape labeled "Part of Cattskill [sic] Mts - Hunter Co." a full length sketch of a woman labeled "Banvards negro" a seascape marked with the colors Waud intended to use for the illustration, a ship labeled "on Lake Huron" and many men, women, and children. Near the end of the book Waud sketched his initials in an embellished gothic lettering. Also in the front and back of the book are what seem to be notes on appointments or assignments, including addresses or locations. Contains sketches of train, ships, landscape, persons, and machines.
